A long weekend.....

I had a goal. An easy goal I though. But then again everything "sounds easy". My goal for this weekend was to connect the electric, well and septic to the house. Not a big deal right? I didn't account for the fact that it was Fall Fest weekend, the possibility that it would storm and the amount of work that was involved. Before the fun began, Brock was able to get our stairs built. Swas very happy.

My brother in law Trent was kind enough to come out and run the excavator that we used to dig the holes for the electric, septic and well lines. He's not a fan of using a shovel, but liked running the control for the bucket on this machine. =)

We were very fortunate to have my dad here this weekend to help out. The electric lines and well went pretty quick and easy. But the septic took FOREVER!! The phone company didn't come out to flag the phone lines, so we spent almost 3 hours digging with shovels to try and find it. No fun.

They delivered the first part of our brick today! Bill should start next week. We meet with him in a couple of days to make some final decisions.
Tomorrow windows, doors and house wrap are the plan. I should get lots of pictures of that!

Almost finished with framing!

It's been a crazy week with the house. Brock was able to finish sheeting the roof on Tuesday. We also measured for roofing materials and got those ordered.
These are the stairs in the garage leading into my laundry room. Sadie is so excited to climb up and down them.
This is the laundry room. It's huge!!! I'm so excited to have all of the room and storage.

I tried to take a picture of the master bath for inside the bedroom.

This is the dining area/kitchen area.

Yesterday they were able to drill our well. I'm glad to have that done and out of the way. This weekend Craig plans on hooking it up to the house. Along with the electrical and septic.

Here is Sadie standing in the framed fireplace. They are coming out to install it in a couple of weeks.

Trusses and Stuff

A lot has happened this week. Saturday Brock and his crew started boxing in the house. They were able to complete everything on Monday. This is what it looked like Monday evening.
On Tuesday and Wednesday they started to set trusses. Craig said that could see the roof from the highway. We lucked out and missed all of the hail, tornadoes and high winds Wednesday night.

This is a view of the covered deck on the back.

Quick picture of the front last night and the trusses were all set.

Craig wanted a picture of the house and shed together. I hadn't gotten one this whole time.

Today they are sheeting the eves and starting on the roof. We should be dried in pretty soon. Then it's our turn to take over the work for a while.

Wes poured the cap on the safe room today too. Craig gets to waterproof that this weekend. Along with a list a mile long of other items that we have to get done. Time is just flying by!!

Garage

This weekend Craig had a few free minutes to rough in the electrical and vent for the safe room. Wes is going to pour the first cap sometime this week...if it doesn't rain.

The boys got the opportunity to frame up the garage today. It really looks different to have it finished.

Here is a picture of the whole house. The garage framed in almost makes it look smaller to me. They were able to finish sheeting the house this afternoon. I'm going to have to run out there in the morning to get a picture before they start setting roof trusses. It's coming along pretty good. We should start taking over the work load in a couple of weeks!!

Work, work, work all day long...

Brock finished up rough framing the upstairs this week. He worked by himself for a couple of days, but accomplished a ton!!

Here is a view from the back. The upstairs looks really tall.

Today Brock, Sam and Adam boxed in the south and west sides (viewout sides). It really looks a lot different walking through it now. Can't wait until it's finally finished.

Here is another look from the back. There is another window downstairs that needs to be cut out. The plan for next week is to frame up the garage and put on the roof trusses.

Basement framed...now on to the upstairs!

Last week Brock accomplished a TON of work. Basement was framed up, trusses set and decking nailed down.

Having the trusses set really made the basement come together. Our family room is bigger than I thought it would be. So is the safe room. LOL!

Today they were able to set the bottom plate and even build some walls. This is what I found after Hanah's practice this evening. I was surprised because standing walls wasn't on the "goal list" today. Tomorrow most of the walls should be set. Then it is suppossed to rain...a lot. Hopefully we will be back on track Friday though.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post these. I'll try to be a little more on top of it next week!

Starting to take shape

On Friday we poured the basement. Such a welcome sight! All concrete...no mud!!!

Today Brock started framing the basement. All walls should be done today and floor trusses put on tomorrow!

This is a picture of the view out windows.
Here is a side shot from the south. Hanah & Halie's bedrooms are on this side. Along with a bathroom.
