The garage is done!!

Well, it's been a long week or so since I posted last time. It rained...once again. Craig had to take off work to come home and pump out the basement to get it plumbed and ready for pouring tomorrow. Here the progress that we have made though. Our flatwork guy (Wes Osner) had a company come out and shoot sand in our basement floor from a conveyor belt to the places that were hard to reach. It was pretty neat to watch. Cody would have loved it, but it was thier first day of school.

While the sand was being pumped into the basement they were getting the garage ready to be poured the next day.

Our plumbers Brain May and Dan Zoglmann worked all afternoon getting everything stub plumbed on Friday.

Floor trusses were also delivered on Friday. They made it out there before I did! =)

The guys did an awesome job on the garage floor. can't wait until the walls go up in about a week!

Here is a final picture of the basement floor Friday afternoon. They are coming first thing in the morning to pour. I will be so relieved when that is done. No more muddy basement floor!!!

We will start framing on Tuesday. I'll post pictures as much as I can. We've got a busy week planned with soccer, volleyball and football games to attend. I'll post pictures of the kids first day of school tomorrow too!

Sadie

Sadie had another check up today with her pulmonologist Dr. Riva. She is going to stay on her inhaler for a bit longer until we get through flu and allergy season. After that, if we don't have any issues, she should be able to get rid of it. She also has to get a flu shot. We meet with her surgeon in November.

Rain is gone and work has progressed

So this week didn't start out so great. It rained...and then rained some more. And this is what we found when the rain stopped.

Just a minor glitch in our schedule. Craig and I spent a couple of hours pumping out the muddy swimming pool that is slowly becoming our basement. The waterproofers couldn't come out until everything was "semi-dry". I prayed that things would dry a little overnight...and they did!!

Here is the end result of the draintile and waterproofing. I didn't post any pictures of the tarring. Just black walls, nothing too interesting.

Last night Craig decided to start backfilling the viewout on the south and west wides. I think he had a little too much fun playing around in the bobcat. ;)

Today I had Joe Seiwert come back out and cut out our view out. He did an awesome job!! I would recommend them to anyone. I also took a picture from into the basement looking out the viewout, but forgot to post it. Sorry..

Every time we have any work done out at the land I always get a picture of Cody with the machinery. He just loves it!!!

Next week is stub plumbing, framing and pouring both basement and garage floors and framing!!! I'll be taking lots of pictures and posting them when I can.

Basement Walls are FINISHED!!!

The guys poured the basement walls on Wednesday. Today they pulled the frames. It's neat to see things a little bit more defined. Tonight the kids will be able to walk around in it and get a feel for were things are going to be.

My brother in law was interested in how they loaded the wall frames. I took this pictures with him in mind. =)

Here is the finished product. Next it's on to waterproofing, termite treatment, backfill, stub plumbing and flatwork. Hopefulyl we will be framing in a couple of weeks.

Footings and Walls

Here is an update on the house over the past couple of days. Here are the guys pouring our first drops of cement for the piers. They all laughed at me for taking these pictures. They kept turning around smiling.

The next day they were setting up forms to pour the footings. I was amazed at how fast things started to get done.
Father Andy was kind enough to come out and bless the house for us. We also had a cookout and rootbeer floats afterwards!!

Please bless this house with clear weather until it is dried in.

Here are the wall forms being set up.

The kids loved seeing this!! The pump truck was HUGE. It was pretty neat watching them pump the cement into the wall forms.

And So It Begins...The Basement

Well, today started off exciting! The kids and I were out at the shed by 7:30 waiting on the excavators. Mom met us out there along with Kathy & Grandma to help pass the time. The Siewerts arrived around 7:45 and got right to digging. There were a few bumps along the way with depths and finding "virgin ground". But it's done. It's dug. And it looks huge!! Here's a picture of Joe starting the dig.

Little Cody just couldn't stand it. He ended up getting out his own John Deere toys and digging a few basements by the shed. He can't wait to get out there later tonight and play in the dirt. It drove him crazy that I wouldn't let him play in the piles while the track hoe was working.

Project is almost completed. Just one more corner and two wing walls to go!!!

D-O-N-E!!! Mom & the kids decided to go run around in the basement while I took a few last minute pictures. Hanah & Halie were both able to stand in thier rooms and visualize where everything was going to be. We lucked out with the garage and didn't end up having to dig it out. We will just have to backfill it instead. I'll post more next week after we pour basement walls.

Our New Adventure

This is the week that we get to start on our house...FINALLY!!! This weekend we met with our basement guys to stake out the house and elevations. Our excavator is showing up Friday to break ground. Footings will be poured Monday and basement walls on Tuesday. I'll take pictures and post them when I can. Below is a picture of what you will see from the viewout windows in the basement.

Sadie was quite the helper when it came time to drive the stakes into the ground.

You can't see the stakes very well, but there are a ton of them out there.

The very top black line is where our sub floor will be. It looks tall because of the viewout. It won't seem that one once we start backfilling and bricking.
